Life Goes On and On

It has been more than a month since I last blog. During this time, I spent 2 weeks in Perth for a well deserved break.

I went with my in-laws, my mother, wife and our golden retriever to Margaret River and Albany for 3 days. We drove down south, and stayed in a very nice farm in Margaret River. That was when I had my stomach flu. Things did not improved the next day, and the 3 days down south was spent vomitting and having a terrible stomach upset. The stomach flu aside, it was a pretty nice experience to spend 3 days with the whole family.

After that, the rest of the 1st week was spent bringing my mother around Perth. It was her first visit to Perth, and we tried to stuff as many places as possible within what was left of her 1 week stay, with trips to usual places like King's Park, Fremantle, Burswood Casino etc.

After my mother flew back to Singapore after the 1st week, my wife and I spent the next week practically doing nothing. We rent a DVD to watch every night, and the day was spent idling, relaxing and playing with our dog. Life was good.

It was also during this 2 weeks that I made up my mind to resign the day I go back to work. It was a giant leap of faith, resigning without a job, and with my wife's employment contract just ended, we will be both unemployed. I was also making plans in case both of us cannot get a job within 6 months.

However, I returned back to work to find out that my colleague had took back her resignation letter, and certain promises were made by our boss. These promises were nothing much, however, they were a big step in the right direction. I decided to hold back the resignation. Work conditions were still shit, but at least now we are compensated slightly for all those extra hours we were putting in, though I must say, there is a lot of room for improvement.

I also requested my boss to approve my application to pursue my Microsoft Certified Applications Developer in .NET through my company's online training, something which he promptly approved. I am hoping to pass my first of my 3 papers by end of October, if nothing goes wrong.

In the meantime, I am earnestly looking for a new job, without any success.

That was what happened in the last month since I blog, and life still goes on and on.
